On my Plate: Urbano, Dubai.

As myself and a few friends were planning to check out the National day parade in Downtown, we decided to go out for lunch before around – Urbano is a place I recently learnt about, but haven’t heard anything about so decided to give it a go as I was craving Italian food.

Restaurant name and location: Urbano at Souk Al Bahar, Dubai.

Cuisine: Italian

Atmosphere: I went on a public holiday during the week and it wasn’t empty, yet not too crowded. They have both an outdoor and indoor seating – both are great but because of the weather, we sat outside, which has a great view.

What they say: An authentic slice of Milan in the heart of Downtown Dubai, Urbano serves up Italian classics that are prepared with passion and served with love. Whatever your mood and whatever the occasion, there’s an Urbano experience that’s perfect for you – Trattoria, Pizzeria, Caffè. Each promises a great atmosphere, friendly service and – above all – the true taste of Italy.

What to order:

-Bruschetta (They have classics to interesting ones with mushrooms, delicious.)

-Calamari (comes with smoked paprika mayo)

-Funghi ripieni al forno (baked portabello mushroom filled with crispy bacon and smoked mozarella cheese. If you love mushrooms, you’ll love this.)

-Carpaccio

-Arnacini (risotto balls stuffed with mamas bolognese and cheese sauce – heaven in the mouth)

-Funghi pizza (roasted portobello mushrooms, red onion marmalade, picked thyme, gorgonzola cheese and truffle oil. The onion marmalade gives a lovely sweet twist to the typical mushroom pizza)

-Limone meringue (italian lemon tart topped with sweet burnt meringue)

Service: Great – sweet staff, and felt taken care of yet still given privacy to enjoy our food.

What I loved:

-Just really good Italian food. Pretty much everything we had was amazing.

-Vast range of mocktails with cool names like honeymoon, cranberry nights and vespa!

-Weather was beautiful so outdoor seating and good food felt heavenly.

What I didn’t love as much:

-They were out of Burratta 🙁

Bill for two: AED 300
