Restaurant Review: Basta, Dubai

July 4
Comments

Ideal for… a really lovely Italian lunch
Restaurant name and location: Basta, Renaissance Hotel Downtown
Cuisine: Italian
Atmosphere: A little quiet for lunch on a weekday, but the restaurant was filled with great vibes.
What they say: Longing for an Italian escape filled with aromas of freshly made pizza, pasta and melt-in-your-mouth steaks? Treat yourself to la dolce vita in the heart of Dubai and say ciao to the city’s newest Italian restaurant: BASTA!, courtesy of world-renowned chef David Myers.
Expertly fusing the food and feel of a Roman trattoria, Florentine steakhouse and Neapolitan pizzeria into one buzzing restaurant, BASTA! serves up full-flavoured Italian cuisine in a seriously stylish space within the Renaissance Downtown Hotel, Dubai.

What to order:
-Beef Carpaccio (topped with lemon, parmesan and mushroom – perfectly seasoned)
-Burrata
-Sweet corn agnolotti (stuffed with sweet corn and ricotta)
-Veal Milanese (not too large, yet filling – works well with a pasta dish)
-Farfalle pasta with tomato and chilli (a little spicy, and el dente)
-Berry tart (delicious, hand rolled – reminds me of holiday season, perfect with a cup of tea or coffee)

Service: 9/10 – super sweet staff and the manager gave us some great dish recommendations.

What I loved:
-The design of the restaurant is gorgeous – definitely doesn’t feel like you’re in Dubai.
-Their coffee is quite good – they serve Seven Fortunes coffee.

What I didn’t love as much:
-The air-conditioning was way too high, so it was uncomfortably cold.

Bill for two: AED300
