Restaurant Review: Angelina, Dubai

Ideal for… a pastry and tea stop

Restaurant name and location: Angelina Cafe – They have one in Dubai Mall and a new one in Mall of the Emirates (This review was written on Mall of the Emirates, but I prefer the Dubai Mall seating.
Cuisine: French cafe & Tea room
Atmosphere: As Angelina is a Parisian favourite, and placed in Malls – they always seem to be full, especially with the locals.
What they say: In 1903 the confectioner Antoine Rumpelmayer founded Angelina, which he named after his daughter-in-law. For over a century the tearoom has built a reputation as a place of sophistication and indulgence. As soon as it opened, Angelina became the place to be among the Parisian aristocracy. Proust and Coco Chanel rubbed shoulders with the biggest names in fashion in Angelina’s salons.
The interior, designed by the famous Belle Epoque architect Edouard-Jean Niermans, combines elegance, charm and refinement to create a sense of romanticism and poetry. Angelina is a tranquil, exquisite space, somewhere between serenity and indulgence.

What to order:
-Buratta and vegetables (creamy, and beautiful vegetable presentation)
-Tarragon Corn fed chicken with mashed potato. (Juicy, soft and flavourful – a great chicken main)
-Mont Blanc dessert (This is their signature dessert, and the flavour changes every now and then – this one was a Fraise-Vanille which includes a mix of cream, meringue and a flavourful centre – in this case, strawberries and cream – definitely worth trying)
Service: Staff were very sweet and ‘proper’

What I loved:
-The fresh bread – sinful, tasted so good and doughy, as if they literally just came out of the oven.
-Angelina are known for their teas as well as their rich hot chocolate, so take a breather whenever you’re at the mall and have a hot chocolate or Mont Blanc tea alongside a pastry.
What I didn’t love as much:
– I went to the new Mall of the Emirates branch, I definitely preferred the space in Dubai Mall.

Bill for two: AED250-300

Contact details:
You can just walk in to the branch in Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates
