Stay : Ananda in the Himalayas

Last month, I had the incredible opportunity to visit India for the first time—a trip that took me to the Himalayas and a luxury wellness retreat called Ananda. From the moment we landed in Delhi via Emirates Airlines, the journey was a seamless blend of excitement and calm. After a quick transit, we boarded a flight with Air India to Jolly Grant Airport, the closest gateway to the Himalayas, where we were greeted and driven through winding roads to the retreat.

The moment we arrived at Ananda, it felt like everything slowed down. The property was stunning, with its serene atmosphere and breathtaking views, but what stood out the most was how welcoming and personal it all felt. Every detail, from the warm smiles of the staff to the thoughtful touches throughout the space, made it clear this wasn’t just another luxury resort—it was an experience designed to make you feel completely at ease.

During my stay, my days were beautifully structured but never rigid. I was welcomed with a personalized schedule that offered a harmonious mix of relaxation and activities—everything from Ayurvedic treatments and yoga sessions to sound baths and engaging talks. The dining experience was equally memorable, with options to follow a tailored wellness plan or enjoy à la carte meals, and the daily tea time quickly became one of my favorite rituals.

Reflecting on my time there, I can honestly say it was one of the most incredible trips I’ve ever taken. Ananda in the Himalayas is more than just a retreat—it’s an experience I can’t wait to return to.

Here are some highlights from my days spent there

Day One:

• Ayurvedic Consultation: My first stop was a one-on-one session with a doctor who seemed to read my mind, body, and soul. Through thoughtful questions, he crafted simple tips to help me bring balance into my everyday life.

• Aromatherapy Massage: After traveling, this was bliss. Warm oils, soothing scents, and gentle hands worked magic on my tired muscles, leaving me in a state of pure relaxation.

• Wellness Journal: The small act of jotting down my thoughts and emotions was a grounding moment—one that instantly brought mindfulness to my day.

Day Two:

• Abhyanga Massage: Imagine two therapists moving in perfect rhythm, synchronizing their movements to create a deeply restorative experience. I floated out of the session, completely at ease.

• Vedanta Class: Here, I reflected on the idea of finding calm within life’s inevitable chaos. Instead of resisting the unpredictability, I learned to see it as part of life’s natural rhythm.

• Emotional Healing: This session gently helped me release emotions I’d been holding onto, leaving me feeling lighter and more free.

Day Three:

• Pranayama: Guided breathing exercises taught me how something as simple as breath can anchor you in any moment. It was both grounding and empowering.

• Fusion Massage: A mix of techniques that melted every bit of tension from my body, leaving me in a state of pure bliss.

• Ayurveda Lecture: A deep dive into this ancient wellness philosophy gave me a new perspective on holistic health.

Day Four:

• Sunrise Trek: As the first rays of sun lit the Himalayas, I stood in awe at the top of Kunjapuri Temple. It was a moment of quiet connection—with nature, spirituality, and myself.

• Sound Healing: Vibrations from the instruments seemed to echo through my entire being, calming my mind and lifting my spirit.

• Podikizi Massage: A warm, herbal treatment that left my body completely rejuvenated.

Day Five: A Farewell to Remember

The final day was short but sweet. After a relaxing reflexology session and a heartfelt goodbye ceremony, I was sent off with a red bracelet symbolizing blessings and protection.

As I traveled back home, I reflected on how transformative the journey had been. Ananda wasn’t just a retreat—it was a reminder to prioritize myself, embrace calm, and find balance even in the chaos of everyday life.
