What: Pravana hair treatment at Machka
The atmosphere: A villa on Al Wasl Road, Machka is an understated beauty villa with everything from Hypoxi, PT to all things beauty.
The experience: I’m a sucker for hair treatments and because I use Pravana hair colors on my hair, I was eager to try their hair treatment out. Not many hair salons in Dubai have it, but Machka (where I also workout) have it. The Pravana silk degrees treatment started with my hair washed twice with Pravana shampoo, before the application of the treatment was put in sections. This was then followed up by being left under the steamer for 15 minutes, before it was washed off. Once it was washed, and before it was dried, my stylist applied the finishing silk degrees shine serum on the hair.
Final note and results: My hair felt super soft, hydrated and smelt great.
Cost: AED200

What: A visit to the newly opened, Six Senses spa at the Renaissance Downtown Hotel
The atmosphere: I must say I was so excited about Six Senses opening in Dubai – and Renaissance is probably one of my favorite boutique hotels at the moment. Having just opened a few days before, it was quiet as expected.
The experience: The first Six Senses spa in Dubai, and the first time they’ve done a concept where they have rooms based on senses – with every treatment you book in at the spa, you get 30 minute session in your sense of choice (I went for the sound one) where you can choose from a range of sounds, and just relax on a chair bed with tea and dried fruits. As soon as I arrived, I was greeted with a cold towel and a delicious cinnamon and date yogurt drink before being taken to my treatment room. I went for the 60 minute Indian leg and foot massage, which was a lovely and ayurvedic and aromatherapy massage on the legs and feet using subtle energies oil (they use the Australian brand for all the body massages).
Final note and results: I must say, their massage beds were one of the comfiest ones I’ve ever laid on! I liked the fact that the whole process was a no fuss one – the toilet was inside my treatment room, everything felt so easy and I left completely relaxed.

What: A hole in the wall for the best massages – at Feet Lounge
The atmosphere: Feet Lounge have two branches in Dubai – one in Business Bay and one on the Palm at Golden Mile – I recently visited the branch on the palm that’s small and quite hidden on the Mezzanine floor.
The experience: As it’s a small space, it’s really straight to the point – as soon as you fill up a basic consultation form, you’re taken to a small room with a really comfortable reclining chair, where you can change into your pajama set. My treatment was a 90 minute foot massage (60 minutes of a deep and firm foot massage using oil followed by 30 minutes of the herbal ball application which boosts circulations and helps with tired muscles)
Final note and results: Incredibly relaxed and happy – I felt like I was in an authentic spa in Thailand.
Recommended therapist: All the staff are super sweet – highly recommend Kathy (who’s from Thailand) for a massage
Cost: AED315 for 90 minutes

What: Customized hair treatment at Ricci Capricci Salon
The atmosphere: Situated at the Conrad Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road, Ricci Capricci recently went through a revamp and launched their new space (which I’m in love with). Not too big, but feels quite grand – yet relaxed. Think high ceilings, and beautiful illustrations framed around the salon.
The experience: I like to pamper myself with either a massage, or a hair treatment (love a good head massage and my hair always needs a hydration boost due to the color. The treatment, which is by the brand Mash Up is great because of the fact that your treatments can get customized to your hair needs. My treatment started with the Mashup shampoo no.16 and the mash up conditioner no.26 followed by the treatment that was created based on my hair consultation (a mix of the hair mask no.25, the arian & Linseed oil no.54 and the Keratin system 2B chic) – which was left on the hair for half an hour, before being washed out.
Final note and results: My hair felt, and smelt great – as well as being completely hydrated
