Four Hair Treatments to try this Month
What: Davines treatment at Be Bar Salon
The atmosphere: Be Bar is one of my favorite blow dry bars in Dubai – there’s this energy you get as soon as you enter the salon. Even if it’s full or empty, it’s always filled with great vibes.
The experience: As soon as I entered, I was set up at the bar before moving to their zen wash room for a wash (Sashi, my stylist used the rebalancing shampoo by Davines for the scalp) and the minu shampoo (for dry/colored hair) on the ends before applying the Minu mask – also by Davines on my hair. They usually apply heat on the hair, but I decided against and just left it on with a shower cap for 15 minutes. To speed up that time, they give a complimentary hand massage whilst the treatment is on. Once my hair was washed, I was given a lovely head massage before it was dried and styled.
Final note and results: My hair felt hydrated and super soft – it did hold through my beach waves for two days which was great.
Recommended stylist: Sashi (PS she gives some great beach waves!)
Cost: AED150-220 depending on hair length

What: Alterna Organic hair treatment at Organic Glow Salon
The atmosphere: I must say most salons are all the same for me these days – but I was incredibly impressed with the Organic Glow salon – the first green salon in the UAE. All of their services – from hair, waxing to nails use products that are eco-friendly, natural, organic and cruelty free. I booked in for an organic hair treatment and asked my stylist to recommend which one I should go with. She suggested the anti-frizz, which wouldn’t affect my purple hair.
The experience: My hair was initially washed with shampoo by Alterna, and then had the mask applied all over my hair and left on. The best part was that they give you a head massage, followed by a shoulder and ended with an arm massage using lavender oil so I couldn’t do anything but relax throughout the treatment – it’s also a great way to kill time.
Final note and results: I’m not usually a fan of organic treatment scents but my hair smelt really good, felt really smooth and hydrated – and I left relaxed and happy.

What: Kerastase Fusiodose treatment at Tips and Toes
The atmosphere: Tips and Toes Al Barsha is probably my favorite branch because of the variety of treatments and spaciousness. I booked in for a Kerastase booster treatment (I like doing those little booster treatments in between my Olaplex and scalp ones).
The experience: After getting a short consultation, my stylist recommended the fusiodose and powerdose boosters due to my hair being colored with dry ends. Once my hair was washed with a Kerastase shampoo, I was given a short massage before the treatment was left on my hair with a shower cap (liked the fact that they don’t use steam). Once that was left in the hair for 20-30 minutes, it was rinsed out and dried. I recommend not getting your hair styled post treatment because 1) it won’t hold well and 2) it’s best to give your hair a little break from heat post treatment.
Final note and results: A great instant fix if your hair just needs a little boost. My hair felt hydrated and smelt so good – but did feel a little greasy on the roots.

What: B3 Hair treatment at Chloe’s
The atmosphere: Chloe’s is a new salon from the team behind The Entertainer. Based on Beach Road, it’s quite new so the place is nice and quiet.
The experience: As someone that regularly colors their hair and styles it – I love trying out hair treatments. The B3 treatment (by the Brazilian Blow dry brand) is a little similar to the Olaplex treatment (when it comes to strengthening the bonds and hydrating colored hair) It’s an oil based treatment as opposed to a water based one (which is what Olaplex is) so it’s heavier on the hair. My hair was first washed with it’s shampoo, before the treatment was applied and left on the hair for 30 minutes before it got washed out.
Final note and results: Personally, I loved the treatment – my hair definitely felt softer and hydrated. It really helps with reconstructing the damage of color.
