Restaurant Review: The Maine Oyster Bar & Grill, Dubai

December 11
Comments

Ideal for… the fish eaters and a brasserie experience on the Marina side of town
Restaurant name and location: The Maine Oyster Bar & Grill, JBR
Cuisine: American/Seafood
Atmosphere: This is definitely one of Dubai’s hottest restaurants at the moment. I did go during the day on a weekday, which was a little empty, but the interiors and food sure make up for it.
What they say: Tucked away in a hotel loading dock, on the edge of Dubai’s sprawling coastline, The MAINE Oyster Bar & Grill is a seaside brasserie devoid of any pretension or gimmickry.
What to order:
-Carpaccio with garlic chips and Spanish onions
-Burrata (nearly as good as La Petite Maison)
-Mushroom and truffle pizza (with shimeji mushrooms and black truffle)
-Steak frites
-Fish & chips (crispy battered cod)
-Rocky road brownie (chewy)
-Key Lime Pie (If you like a key lime pie, this is perfect)
Service: Sergey, our server was super sweet and took great care of us.
What I loved:
-The interiors, and the natural light. It really does feel like a NYC brasserie.
-Freshly baked baguette with fresh onion and butter (good bread makes all the difference!)
-They’re known for their fish (especially their fish tacos and chargrilled octopus, but even if you don’t eat fish – there are some incredible dishes that are fish-free)
What I didn’t love as much:
-Even though I love the idea of it being a hidden gem, and that they have valet parking, but the entrances of the hotel are a little far off.
Bill for two: AED550
