This year, Elie Saab Parfums have added 2 new essences to their collection – the number 6. Vetvier and number 7. Neroli. The Vetiver, being a more dark, smoky and dry fragrance and the Neroli being a little more subtle- with notes of fresh white flowers and orange blossom (a signature of the couture house)

I spoke to master perfumer, Francis Kurkdijan on the fragrances and here is what he had to say about the brand new essences joining the collection…
Neroli and Vetiver, the newest essences have opened another chapter into La Collection des Essences. Itís more related to Mr Saab in a sense. Like, for Essence N∞ 7 Neroli, it is all about white, the whites used by Mr Saab in its creations. As the Neroli is a white flower, there again it was obvious that we would use Neroli. At the same time I had challenged the vendor who provided me Neroli as I was looking for a new quality of Neroli with specific characteristics, and he came out with a Neroli from Lebanon, which was both unusual and so relevant for Mr Saabís essences. There was only a very small harvest which I totally bought for this essence.
Essence N∞ 6 Vetiver was born from Mr Saabís taste for this note. I worked on this new essence as if it were a fragrance for Mr Saab. We submitted different leads to him and one particularly called his attention. It than became Essence N∞ 6.

Essence n∞6 VETIVER blends the two noblest varieties of this potent, complex ingredient: the softer and rounder Haitian Vetiver and the drier and smokier Javanese Vetiver. A lavish dose of Calabrian bergamot highlights vetiverís grapefruit facet. Its fresh, bracing effect is extended into the heart notes by aromatic tarragon, lavender and geranium. The latterís rosy accents form a discreetly floral accord with violet. Set ablaze by clove, rooted in a papyrus and cashmere wood accord, vetiver unfolds a smoky, powerful trailÖ

Essence n∞7 NEROLI was conceived as I discovered a neroli distilled from orange blossoms grown in Lebanon. White cedar, with its smooth, fresh wood notes, is giving it structure. Adding contrast, the burning spiciness of clove underlines the flower’s sensuousness and binds it to the woody base notes. A breeze of musk extends the radiant trail into infinityÖ
