Ideal for… a Greg Malouf, a Michelin star chef experience

Restaurant name and location: Clé, at Al Fattan Currency house in DIFC, Dubai (right next to Sass Cafe)
Cuisine: contemporary Middle Eastern
Atmosphere: This is where Clé have done it all right – I went on a Thursday night. The restaurant was full, happening and elegant, definitely a crowd you’d like to be around on a night out.
What they say: CLÉ DUBAI UNLOCKS THE EXPERIENCE OF CONTEMPORARY MIDDLE EASTERN CUISINE AS EXPRESSED THROUGH MICHELIN-STARRED CHEF GREG MALOUF’S EYES. THE SPACE UNRAVELS A JOURNEY OF THE SENSES THROUGH PERFORMANCE, LIVE MUSIC AND ITS LUXURIOUS BAR AND LOUNGE OFFERING. CLÉ ALSO BOASTS AN OUTDOOR TERRACE WITH A VIEW OF THE BURJKHALIFA AND A VIP AREA WITH AN EXCLUSIVE ENTRANCE FOR MORE INTIMATE FUNCTIONS.

What to order:
-Silky hummus, mama ghanoush, persian spinach and yoghurt salad (delicious, ask for naan bread instead of the normal)

-Hazelnut falafel with tahini (interesting twist of hazelnut instead of chickpeas)

Chicken and date fatayer with house pickles (a favourite starter, enjoyed the mix of chicken with dates)

Service: I’ve been hearing bad reviews about the service, but I had no issue. Our waitress was great with recommending dishes and helping me with order dilemmas.

What I loved:
-The restaurant itself is beautiful. Large, dim with the most beautiful lights.
-They were in the process of getting their shisha license, great fall idea.
-The ingredient twists to your typical Middle Eastern dishes.

What I didn’t love as much:
-The food was a little bit of a downfall being someone that has heard great things about Greg Malouf – I felt like I would come back for drinks and starters rather than a full on meal. The good thing is that they’ve been changing the menu quite regularly which is a good sign.

Bill for two: AED500 – it’s quite an expensive restaurant so keep that in mind.
