Restaurant Review: Serafina, Dubai

Ideal for… a casual Italian bite in Downtown

Restaurant name and location: Serafina, Souk Al Bahar, Downtown Dubai

Cuisine: Italian

Atmosphere: The atmosphere in their NYC branches are always happening, with a line all over the block. Sadly, the Dubai one lacks atmosphere or a crowd.

What they say: Serafina Restaurant Group was conceived when Vittorio Assaf and Fabio Granato made a pact while traumatically lost at sea. The two friends agreed to open a restaurant serving the best pizza and pasta in the world if they were to survive the ordeal!

Today, Serafina is a popular spot in New York, with celebrities such as The Kardashians, Bono, Prince & Lady Gaga, it now boasts 10 locations in New york, 1 in Philadelphia & now has more than 4 international locations Brazil, Moscow, Tokyo, Mumbai, and now in Dubai – operated by Ginza Restaurants.

Based on a very authentic approach to Northern Italian food using only the highest quality ingredients, Serafina will delight its diners with a creative twist on simple, original Italian dishes. With a wide selection of homemade pastas, simple marinated meats, fish and vegetables and an array of authentic pizzas made in a special cherrywood-burning oven. The unique combination of an intimate setting, charming service and delicious food, that had guests going back for years.

What to order:

-Buratta (fresh and creamy)

-Bresaola (one of my favourite starters)

-Truffled carpaccio (loved the truffle addition)

-Bruschetta (one of the best Bruschetta’s I’ve ever had!)

-Chicken milanese (A classic must order)

-Truffled ravioli – recommended pasta dish

-Tiramisu (They’re famous for their Tiramisu)

Service: Slow, slow service. We waited around 30-40 mins for starters, wasn’t too happy.

What I loved:

-NYC’s famous Italian eatery now open in Dubai!

-Some of the best Italian starters – delicious food.

-The Graffiti art on their brick walls all around the restaurant.

What I didn’t love as much:

-It needs more buzz and life.

Bill for two: AED400
