Ideal for… a healthy and hearty lunch at a chic French restaurant

Restaurant name and location: Le Paradis Du Fruit at The Beach, JBR
Cuisine: healthy French cuisine
Atmosphere: I went on a weekday, so it was relaxed and quiet with lots of beautiful natural lighting.
What they say: The restaurant features Philippe Starck’s architectural design, an exceptional French culinary tradition, including healthy menu options, gourmet ice cream and a playful, family-friendly atmosphere.
Starck’s interpretation of paradise will awaken the inner child. Allow eyes to meander from the massive stainless steel trees, to the magnificent Murano glass fruit chandeliers, to the brilliant animated screens of fruit splashing into water and recall a modern interpretation of the Garden of Eden, ripe for discovery.
In the early 1980s, the concept began as an innovative restaurant specializing in freshly squeezed juices and homemade ice cream. Since then, Le Paradis Du Fruit has been creating original recipes aligned with authentic French pastry traditions, including ice cream made from natural fresh ingredients. Thirty years and 27 restaurants later, Le Paradis du Fruit is known both for its divinely authentic ice cream and its pioneering efforts to offer French inspired concepts, but with several exotic twists, as well as fresh, healthy menu items.
What to order:
-Prawn and mango crispy roll (delicious starter, felt like a sushi roll with a twist)
-Sicilian Lemon with your food (refreshing home made lemonade with fresh lemon juice and orange blossom)
-For my main, I had their ‘1,2,3’ make your own – I chose the Beef Brochette (which was incredibly tender with a teriyaki type of sauce), Chicken pita which was delicious with a side of couscous salad)
-Nougatella for dessert (their bestseller – which is a mix of nougat cream, banana, whipped cream and nutella)
-Take a Josephine Baker juice as a take away (passion fruit, mango and coconut smoothie)

Service: Could have been better, I didn’t really understand much of the dishes as our waitress seemed flustered.

What I loved:
-The interiors and fresh fruit imagery really makes it a refreshing lunch spot – designed by Philippe Starck.
-Healthy, yet delicious and filling.
-We lack juice bars, they have some of the best juices in town! They have a range of juice selections, elixirs and you can also make your own.
-Quite a large menu, with lots of healthy choices!
-They serve their own frozen yogurt.

Bill for two: AED250
