Ideal for… a cool lunch spot at the mall.

Restaurant name and location: Markette Restaurant & Creperie at The Dubai Mall

Cuisine: International, something there for everyone. However be slightly open as they have their own twists on things which is refreshing.

Atmosphere: Lunch by the Aquarium in Dubai Mall, definitely packed! But a nice kind of packed. Not sure how it would be on the weekends though!

What they say: Markette Restaurant & Crêperie is a heart-warming concept from the owners who brought you Social House, where you are the heart and soul of our kitchen. Markette is now open at The Dubai Mall to serve you home-cooked goodness, great coffee, and various fresh off-the-kitchen comfort food.

What to order:

-Galette leon (A french dish, which reminds me of a savoury crepe. The leon included chicken, pesto mozza – light and flavorful yet still fills you up)

-Chicken and avocado salad (light and fresh)

-Belgian truffle fries and homemade mayo (crispy and perfect for truffle lovers)

-Amelie crepe (grated lemon zest, butter, sugar and a squeeze of fresh lemon)

-Marie-lou crepe (nutella and banana brulee)

Service: Average – Please don’t read the menu to explain 🙂 but then again, this is a new restaurant so I will give them time. This won’t stop me from coming back, as they did have enough staff.

What I loved:

-It’s actually a chain with three other branches in Indonesia, and this is their 4th but the ones in Indonesia are called Kitchenette (they couldn’t call that here because another brand has that name.) Must check it out if I’m ever in Indo!

-The Welcome Home greeting!

-The cosy, homey feel that resembles a kitchen restaurant in New York.

-The range of Galettes, If you’re a fan – there aren’t many places that do it.

-The large selection of crepes, yum!

Bill for two: AED150-200
