Ideal for… a dressy night out with your man that is a change to your typical Japanese dinner options.

Restaurant name and location: Ba Restaurant & Lounge at Fairmont Hotel, The Palm.

Cuisine: Classy Chinese

Atmosphere: For a restaurant that only opened months ago, and is quite large, the restaurant was happening on a Thursday night. It also had an intimate feel. A live band was playing on the 2nd floor, they also have a DJ that plays on some nights too.

What they say: Discover the charms of China over simplistic and delectable cuisine, complemented by warmth and grace, exclusively at Bā Restaurant & Lounge.

Soak in the chic and elegant ambience, while the team of culinary geniuses, create masterpieces under the leadership of Master Chef Lau. Enhance your evenings in Bā Lounge by indulging in a range of innovative signature cocktails prepared to perfection by our expert mixologists. Groove to the tunes of resident DJ Jason Kabuki and add a dash of glamour to your night out.

Enjoy a truly unique experience that will dazzle you with the charms of China.

What to order:

-Kung Pao chicken

-Dim Sums (especially the shrimp dumplings!)

-Sweet and Sour chicken (sticky and delicious)

-Beef Tenderloin with Oyster sauce (tender, perfect beef choice.)

-Ginger Creme Brûlée (an interesting twist on your typical creme brûlées)

-End the meal with Jasmine tea

Service: Started off slow, but got better as the night went along.

What I loved:

-A nice change to your Japanese lounges, this was more of a Chinese lounge, which we lack in the city…

-Ipad menu for drinks, they have quite a range of cocktail choices.

-The mix of a lounge floor and a restaurant floor.

-The option of a plum sauce dip that also comes with the sweet chilli.

Bill for two: AED950
