When keeping fit, nutrition is almost more important than the exercise you do! Many don’t eat before coming in to exercise. It’s not necessary to eat immediately before, but for instance if you haven’t eaten anything that day and go into exercise, you’re literally burning away the muscle and tone you build from your last session because the body needs to get fuel from somewhere! It’s also essential to feed your body after working out so it can recover properly and rebuild! If you want fast results, be sure to eat before and after exercising!

Both! Before your workout, it is important to eat so that your body has fuel to carry you through your workout. To keep your stomach happy (nobody wants to work out on a full stomach), your mini-meal or snack should be relatively low in fiber, protein and fat since all of the above digest slowly. After your workout, the focus is on replenishing glycogen stores and repairing muscle. To do this, you’ll want a nice balance of protein and carbs.
