Denim is everywhere these days. Whether its the timeless pieces, the trendy pieces – everyone wants a piece of Denim! I recently interviewed the Denim Queen, Donna Ida – The Brainchild behind Donnaida.com! She shares her thoughts on denim, what she loves wearing & what she thinks of blogs!

-Hi Donna! How did your love for Denim begin?
Jeans have always been front of mind for me – I’ve always loved them from right back when Mum would be put me in purple jeans with a big flower on the knee.  Then Levis were huge when I was at high school but there was no stretch, the denim wasn’t great and they gave all girls (apart from the super skinny ones) a big bum.  When Earl Jeans launched and started putting stretch in their jeans that signalled the beginning of the premium denim world and I realised I could start wearing jeans confidently again.
-What are the denim trends we need to be eyeing this A/W’10?
AW is all about leather so you need to be looking at J Brand’s Agnes and Houlihan in Stealth or Mocha, which is a coated leather-look denim.  They’ve also brought out their best selling Inez in Stealth and Mocha so if you love a chino, then here’s your chance to rock one in leather!
Cords and velvet are also huge and so wearable.  There really is something for everyone here, all these fabrications are flatting (and warm) and in-line with a luxe Winter.
-Favorite denim brand?
So hard to choose…and I can’t.  I wear J Brand, James Jeans, Paige, Goldsign, Current/Elliott.  A lot of women worry that they keep buying the same brand or style of jeans and wonder if they should be branching out more but I tell them that I stick quite closely to what I know and what suits my shape, and they shouldn’t be concerned about constantly repeating themselves if it’s what they feel good in.
-A Fashion Essential?
A great pair of snug fitting high waisted skinnies.
-Fashion Magazines or Fashion Blogs?
Both.  I still read magazines more but I think blogs are great and hold a valuable place in the media.
-Coffee or Tea?
Coffee till about 11 and then tea at night.  Diet coke and sparkling water in between.
-What is next for Donna Ida?
More store roll outs – in London and further afield.  Menswear, both as a stand alone store and online, a new website launching early next year with an even more comprehensive guide to buying jeans online…and much much more…:)
-Last words for myfashdiary readers?
Be yourself – always give a nod to the season’s trends but only if something will suit you.  Wear things that give you confidence and finally….stand up straight!  Good posture is so underrated (will give you a flatter tummy too).
