Ideal for… a fancy dinner before dancing the night away

Restaurant name and location: Cavalli Club at the Fairmont Hotel, Dubai

Cuisine: European

Atmosphere: In my opinion, Cavalli Club doesn’t always get the classiest looking crowd (which is not very shocking with the Clubbing scene in Dubai) but the dinner definitely had a better looking and more elegant crowd. The space was definitely more impressive during Dinner time.

What they say: As you enter the main room you are greeted by Cavalli’s modern lounge which embodies the glamorous soul of the designer, hosting exclusive and fashionable parties where guests can sip on Roberto Cavalli Vodka-based cocktails. Furthermore a refined musical selection will be ensured by the best DJ’s in the business. The pleasure of listening to enjoyable music, accompanied by great food and good company in an elegant and sophisticated setting … This is the philosophy of the Cavalli Club Lounge

What to order:

-The Superfood salad (delicious and healthy – think goji berries, quinoa and coconut oil as the dressing)

-Burrata with honeyed black aubergine and heirloom tomatoes (The Burrata was fresh and the honeyed aubergine was perfection)

-Seared Tiger prawns in a Tuscan Chilli-Saffron sauce (Tasty and flavourful- you can taste everything)

-Miyazaki Wagyu Tartare with Truffle (Incredibly fresh, delicious and enjoyed the touch of truffle)

-Grilled Veal Chop with Rosemary and Pistachio pesto in a Puttanesca dressing (This was light and tender, recommended)

-Chocolate Foundant (This finished the meal off perfectly)

Service: Although the ladies at the door weren’t the sweetest, the manager and waiters were sweet and very helpful – especially with the orders!

What I loved:

-Who ever knew Cavalli Club have a secret jazz bar, Blasé – with sound proof walls – the highlight of my night!

-The crowd at Dinner is much better than the club, and feels very intimate.

-Cavalli Club are bringing and have brought an impressive line up so it would be a perfect night to have dinner followed by seeing someone you like – they’ve had Lil Jon, Jermaine Dupre, and Benny Bennasi to name a few.

Bill for two: AED800 (It is pricy.)

    Good: Food, Interior design, atmosphere.
    Bad: services
4 of us came on a Monday night at 8:30pm. It was an unexpected plan after dinner so we didn’t have a reserved table. Except the security who checked our IDs, the hosts didn’t welcome or guide us to the lounge.
At first, we stood at the bar counter. We then decided to order some food and they said we can take a table. (It was not busy at all with many empty tables) We ordered 3 dishes and some selected drinks. A staff also added we can only have the table until 11pm. The reason was all the tables were reserved after 11pm?!!
While we were eating, suddenly, around 9:30pm the bill was put on a table without any words. After a while, a staff came and ask us to pay. We told him we were still not finish yet and might order more. He then told us to show our IDs to “keep the table open”?! The lounge photographer and host visited all other tables, except ours. The last hit was we had to go to the bar counter to pay the bill, not at our table.
It was our first time being here and also the first time we experience such bad service. It really put us off our stroke. If it’s your policy “No reservation no entry” or “No entry for Asians”, keep us aware just before we enter your place.
    A return? No.
