Restaurant Review: Shang Palace, Dubai
Ideal for… Chinese fine dining at a Classic spot
Restaurant name and location: Shang Palace at the Shangri-La Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Dubai
Cuisine: Chinese
Atmosphere: Even though I went on a Friday night, I did go quite late so it was empty. If you’d like something private, this is perfect for you.
What they say: The signature restaurant of Shangri-La Hotels worldwide, Shang Palace, offers a delightful taste of traditional Cantonese cuisine.
Renowned for its Yum Cha, acclaimed Beijing Duck and extensive list of fragrant teas and other authentic beverages, Shang Palace offers a wide selection of exquisite, mouth-watering Cantonese and provincial delicacies, complemented by authentic Chinese hospitality.
Whether it’s for a banquet or more intimate occasion, Shang Palace’s unique fusion of a mystical Far Eastern ambiance and the finest cuisine ensures a truly memorable dining experience.
What to order:
-Wasabi prawns (flavourful, one of my favourite starters)
-Dumplings (They have a dumplings menu with an extensive selection, my favourite is the prawns)
-Sweet and Sour chicken (a classic, pair with rice or noodles)
-End your meal with a new dessert on their menu, the classic original cheesecake
Service: Incredible service, the staff were so sweet, accommodating and helpful
What I loved:
-They start their meals with a lovely ritual – a cold towel and iced jasmine tea (mixed with lemon, tastes so good)
-The restaurant has won best Chinese restaurant at the What’s On Awards for 2013 and 2014
Bill for two: AED400
