The hotel: Conservatorium Hotel, Amsterdam
The Location: In the city centre of Amsterdam, Netherlands (definitely one of the most luxurious hotels you can get in the centre). The hotel itself is right by the Van Gogh Museum and a large luxury shopping street.
The design: Minimal, historic yet contemporary and spacious. The hotel used to be an old bank, to an old music school, before it became a hotel. The lobby is super impressive, even if you’re not staying at the hotel, it’s one to visit and just grab a coffee.
The room: Minimal, clean lines with natural hues and high ceilings – the rooms feel a little Japanese inspired – which made it all feel very zen. Our room felt like a little duplex, which was so lovely.
The toiletteries: by British perfumers, Floris.
The restaurants: There are quite a few restaurants in the hotel – personally only visited one of them for breakfast in the courtyard, which has the most incredible natural light. The hotel also has a Tunes bar, and Asian restaurant, Taiko.
The spa: The hotel has a gorgeous one, The Akasha spa and wellness centre which I only had the chance to visit, but not experience. The spa itself is split into 4 areas by natural elements.
The pool: Yes, an 18 meter lap pool.
The gym: Yes – with brand new equipment and cold towels.
The service: The staff were super polite, service could have been faster but the hotel is quite large. I did love that every room came with a phone that you can use during your stay for google maps and local, as well as roaming calls.
