Secrets from the Star’s Stylists

If there was anyone I’ve wanted to learn hair and beauty from, it would have to be the glam teams behind celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Chrissy Teigen, Beyonce, the Kardashians and Jessica Alba. Who doesn’t want that same glow and the effortless hair? I recently attended the Mane Addicts masterclasses in Dubai (in collaboration with Hair Creators) that took place at the Dubai World Trade Centre where I got a taste of that.

The first masterclass included two looks done on the Kuwaiti Social media personality, Fouz by Harry Josh (who works with Gisele and Kate Bosworth to name a few), and Sir John (who is known for his work on Beyonce and Joan Smalls).
The second masterclass was on special guest Khloe Kardashian, performed by Jen Atkin (the hairstylist to everyone from the Kardashians to Jessica Alba and Katy Perry — a true superwoman) and Mary Phillips (think Jennifer Lopez and Chrissy Teigen’s glow).

I really hope these are the first of many Mane Addicts masterclasses, as not only was it such an incredible, and once in a lifetime time opportunity, but you also really get to learn from watching the experts. The goodie bag was really impressive, from beauty products by Oribe, Rita Hazan and Kardashian Beauty to name a few. Here’s a little photo diary and For the ones who missed out, here are a few tips I picked up on the day…
Sir John
-When you’re tearing up, wag your tongue around your mouth as your brain can’t focus on two things at the same time
-Do the eyes first so you can clean around, before moving to your base
-Use Caster Oil on your eyebrows if you get bald patches
-Use Cigarette paper to blot the oil on the skin if you don’t have blotting sheets
Favorite brands: Morph brushes, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Artisse brushes and NARS

Harry Josh
-Don’t straighten the hair if you’re going to curl it, to keep the hair’s texture
-Use rollers to add volume on the roots
-Don’t spray hairspray on the hair, but rather on the hairbrush so it’s distributed well
-He prefers to use dry shampoo instead of hairspray
Favorite hair products: Harry Josh hair

Mary Phillips
-Make sure to moisturize the skin before makeup (she likes La Mer)
-For lashes, let the lash glue sit for a while before using or the lashes won’t stick (she recommends Ardell Individual lashes)
-She likes using a fat fan brush for highlights
Favorite brands: La Mer, Charlotte Tillbury, Ben Nye and Cryolan

Jen Atkin
-Jen prefers to use a straightener to achieve beachy waves
-Always have a clean part and fill gaps with eyeshadow
-Keep the volume by lifting the hair like a butterfly
Favorite brands: Eclipse tools, Balmain hair, R+co. And Oribe
