Restaurant Review: The Act, Dubai

December 14
Comments Subcategorized in:

Ideal for… an interactive dinner show experience. (it changes every month, I went to the Money, Murder and Mayhem show)

Restaurant name and location: The Act at the Shangri-La Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road

Cuisine: Peruvian

Atmosphere: The interiors make you feel like you’re on a set. The dinner show that I went to on Wednesday was half full with an audience that got involved with the show.

What they say: Punge yourself down the rabbit hole of intriguing curiosity. Tickle your 5 senses and let our master chef tantalize your taste buds with his award winning dishes.

What to order:

-Eggplant carpaccio (crunchy, and very tasty)

-Burrata (which comes with sweet tomato and figs)

-Tiger prawns, quinoa with avocado (The Act mentioned this is their best seller)

-36 hours Braised ribs (soft, tender and delicious, a must order main)

-pastel de papa (potato gratin with cauliflower and mozzarella_

-Lemon grass infused rice

-Strawberry cheesecake (the white viniagrette adds an interesting twist to the cheesecake)

Service: We had no issues, but as it’s a full on production – don’t expect the service to be just like restaurants.

What I loved:

-A unique concept. This is very different to anything you’d probably do or visit, definitely an experience.

-The show I watched was a mystery, with different characters that all had talents that they performed within the mystery performance.

-You can choose whether you’d like to be involved and interact the show or just be part of the audience.

-Starters are served before the show, main and dessert in between – during their breaks of the show

The whole set up feels like you’re in some movie.

Bill for one: AED320 – 3 starters, 3 mains, 1 side dish and dessert, they also have a AED390 and AED495 options
