My Hair makeover with Yoshi and Negin

Every few months, one of Dubai’s leading salons, Jetset bring visiting stylists to the city – Celebrity colourist, Negin Zand and a celebrity stylist for cuts. I recently got my hair cut and coloured by celebrity stylist, Yoshi Hagiwara from LA and Hollywood’s colourist to the stars, Negin Zand. The only downfall with Ombre – well other than the fact that it completely dries out your ends – is the fact that every time you get your hair cut, you will probably need a hair colour refresher because of the fact that the colour is really mostly on your ends. I booked in for a 30 minute touch up with Negin as well as a one hour cut session with Yoshi.

Salon: Jetset Salon, Emirates Towers (they have some of the best stylists, but what I love is the fact that the salon brings in Celebrity colourist, Negin Zand and a stylist for haircuts – this time, it was the talented, Yoshi Hagiwara)

Jetset recently brought down Master Stylist from Hollywood, Yoshi Hagiwara – Tokyo trained stylist who worked alongside Frederic Fekkai for 12 years. Yoshi’s Haircut was all about finding the perfect cut that will you a hair-lift, brighten up your colour as well as get a fresh new look. Yoshi has worked with stars such as Molly Sims, Lindsay Lohan, Lucy Hale, Sarah Hyland and Maria Menounos to name a few. It’s always best to get your hair cut before your hair colour, because you don’t want to be cutting off newly coloured hair so I squeezed in an appointment with Yoshi one morning and an early 9am appointment with Negin Zand two days later (she fills up. fast.) Yoshi was one of the kindest, sweetest, most adorable and down to earth stylist I’ve met. As soon as I met him, we had a little consultation before getting down to business. I came in with an open mind, but I love how Yoshi knew what I want and need from the first two minutes of meeting. He wanted to keep the length, yet break down the front side of my hair which was weighing my hair down – this generally made styling a lot more easier for me especially when I don’t anything to my hair. With the change of weather and colouring the hair – moisture within the cuticles go down. One of the best and most instant ways to fix fried and broken ends is booking yourself in for a trim – even if it’s cutting off a tiny length (Yoshi cut off a good amount yet still kept my long hair) – you still get all the split ends cut off, and avoid them moving up the shafts and affecting the full strand. (I’ve been using Yoshi’s own Magic water, which changes the ph levels of the hair in order to repair the damaged ones, I recommend you check it out!)

Two days later was my session with Negin… whom I love and had such an amazing experience with a few months ago. As my balayage grew out, I came in to get a refresher. With all the hair she works on around the world, she knew exactly what I wanted and went straight to work using the feathering technique she’s an expert in. This time, Negin started from the top, connecting to the bottom making my last balayage look a lot more natural. After the colour was washed off, a gloss by power dose was applied to the hair to help the brassiness, lift the hair and add some warmth. She’s also one of the most hilarious and charming women I’ve met.

FYI they are back next week!
