I recently had the opportunity to interview one of my favourite Supermodels – and one of the original Victoria’s Secret angels – Adriana Lima. The striking Brazilian supermodel was in Dubai for a store visit and photo opp in Dubai promoting the brand and the holiday collection. Adriana’s trip coincided with the arrival of the $10 million Royal Fantasy Bra which was on display at the VS Dubai Mall store. I am a huge fan of the brand, and have personally attended their annual theatrical fashion show in New York City – so I’m over the moon about their expansion within the Middle East. They currently have stores in Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Mirdiff City Centre in Dubai and The Avenues in Kuwait.

Hi! Nice to meet you…I heard you were at the Victoria’s Secret show.

The show was my first one; it was amazing. This year’s also looked great.

It was really different from last year.

Every year gets better. I don’t know how it gets better every year but it does…

I don’t know how they constantly find such new ideas.

How does it feel to be in Dubai?

I was very excited to come here. When I heard that we are coming to Dubai, I was like, ”please choose me!”. All the Angels wanted to come; but I was lucky enough to be chosen to come. It is my first time here. It has been such a great experience; people have been very welcoming, and very nice. I think this city is so beautiful. I got the chance to see the Fountains’ show the day we arrived. This afternoon I am going to go to Burj Khalifa, at the top! I also got the chance to go to the desert yesterday. I rode a camel, and they showed us how the Bedouins used to hunt with the falcons. I also had the chance to have dinner in the middle of the desert. It was a great experience, I wish I could stay longer….

As you are one of the original Victoria’s Secret angel, what do you love most about the brand?

Before becoming an Angel I was so passionate about the brand. I think they celebrate women… Lingerie is the most important part of a woman’s wardrobe for me. If you don’t choose the right lingerie, your clothes can have the wrong “function”. Victoria’s Secret have so many different styles; from sporty, to casual, to sexy, to flirty… It’s a fun brand!

What is your lingerie style?

You know, I love everything in lace. Lace is something that is always feminine. My pick up for those holidays was the Dream Angel Demi bra. I chose it because of lace and I picked it in red because red is a holiday color – This is something that makes me feel sexy. The cut of the bra which is a lower cut is something that you can wear under a tshirt or a dress, and it’s not going to be shown through it – It is very comfortable.

What are your tips for feeling sexy?

It is about how you feel. Sexy is about attitude. Lingerie and Perfume also help too… For the holidays I had the Victoria’s Secret Night one. It is perfect for the evening, subtle, glamorous and provocative. It is not just strong. It has notes of musk, black plum and woods…

Talking about beauty, what is in your beauty bag?

I always have perfume, mascara, water mist and a red lipstick.

You look great; what is your fitness routine?

Well, my kids keep me up in shape. I have to run around all day. They are very active, but I also have a passion – boxing. I have been doing it for so many years now. It is not something I do for my job, I do it for myself. It is hard to keep up because of my work, so I try to find time in between my job and being a mum. If I travel, I just bring a jump rope because it is light and when I have ten minutes I just practice.
