On my Plate: Fraiche, Dubai.

I’ve been hearing about Fraiche for a few months now since they opened and have been wanting to try it. I’ve been to Canada twice this year – Montreal and Toronto. I’ve been having post Canada depression so thought I’d reminice over my Canada trip with my Canadian friend, Dannielle Blaker. Everything we ordered was delicous, and it was the perfect casual meal.

Restaurant name and location: Fraiche Cafe & Bistro, JLT cluster Y, Swiss tower

Cuisine: Canadian

Atmosphere: The modern bistro has a New York feel – Brick space, cosy, yet buzzing for lunch. I was told the evenings have a completely different vibe, so I must check it out at night too.

What they say: Fraiche is a Café and Bistro offering the best of both worlds in market cuisine: Quality and simplicity. We aim to deliver a democratic fine dining experience that encourages and invites our customers to open their minds and experiment with their choices through the familiar flavors we serve that have been evolved by our exciting, young Chef. Dining at Fraiche is about experimenting, soaking up the ambiance, and taking the time to switch off and disconnect from the daily grind to enjoy the pure pleasure that great food can bring. People who eat at Fraiche know and love what it is to “live to eat”.

What to order:

-Lentil salad (the dressing is a delicious maple syrup balsamic vinaigrette.)

-Poutine (Poutine is a Canadian fries dish with gravy. One of the best poutine I’ve had and I’ve had good ones. They also have a crab poutine!)

-Wagyu Beef Bourguignon (Tender, juicy beef that melts in your mouth.)

-Sweet potato Agnolotti (pasta with stuffed potato, heavenly – highly recommended!)

-Pavlova

-Lemon meringue tart

Service: great, the owner was serving us – felt so cosy and lovely!

What I loved:

+They also serve breakfast. Egg Benedict and the whole deal.

+Even though it’s in JLT, they have a parking lot right outside.

+Rare to find Canadian restaurants in Dubai. Wish they served Beaver tails though!

+New things are added to the menu regularly.

Bill for two: AED200
