I recently attended a lecture hosted by The Industry, London featuring Matches founder and director Tom Chapman in conversation with former Matches COO, and The Industry advisor, Frances Card.

The Industry always know how to host a great and inspiring lecture – always look forward to them! Some interesting facts that I wanted to share…

-Matches were the first to stock Bottega Veneta outside their boutique.
-Matches were the first to open a DVF store – Diane now has over 50!
-Freda, Matches’ own brand was created because Matches buyers knew what there was a gap in the market in. It is also a line that is ONLY stocked at Matches.
-Re Ecommerce – This has made Matches grow their international market. 50% of their sales are from the UK and the other 50% are international.
-They support every brand they stock at Matches. “When we bring in a brand, we need to follow through with their journey.”, Tom said.
-They have been bringing in a lot of new british brands, and have been working closely with the BFC (British Fashion Council)
-To keep things exciting, Tom said, “You must bring new names and brand to keep it interesting”
-Last, but not least – a word from Tom regarding menswear “With menswear, there is a lot more loyalty!”

Log on myfashdiary.com in a few hours to check out what Matches have in store for you next season… probably one of the most exciting buyings for next season!
