Ever since Myfashdiary relaunched this summer, the site has expanded into more than just Fashion – rather than JUST fashion, it has been more about Beauty, travel, food, hotels – in one word – Style. One thing that stays the same though is I only feature things that I fell in love with/caught my eye and need to be shared in my fashion diary! This week, we are expanding into interiors with a debut EXCLUSIVE interview with Kelly Hoppen!

Kelly needs no introduction – she really is an interiors guru, an MBE and started working at the age of 17 – what an inspiration! Check out the interview below on her interiors style, blogs, and HOW TO style fashion offices… For more on Kelly, click HERE

-Hi Kelly! Firstly, how did you get into interiors?
I always wanted to be a designer. My mother says that as a child I was constantly shifting furniture around our home, displaying everything at its best. I loved looking around show houses as it was a great opportunity to see design in action as well as visualizing how the designers expect their clients to live within the space. My first design job was designing a kitchen for a friend of my father, this marked the start of my interior design career. My first big design job was for a formula 1 racing driver.

-How would you describe your interiors style?
I would describe my style as ‘timeless elegance’ meaning that the design will stand the test of time, will not date and will always look chic; as simple yet opulent combining the styles of the Eastern and Western world.
Throughout all of my projects my design ethos remains the same, fusing elements of eastern and western principles with neutral tones and a vast array of textures.

-What interior tips would you give for fashion offices?
You should always go with your gut, design in a style that you like. Trends are well and good however they will date and will make your interiors feel tired in a short space of time.

-Do you read blogs?
I am really interested in reading design blogs at the moment. I would have to say that my favourite website would have to be twitter. I have become slightly obsessed! Follow me @IMKellyHoppen.

-What are you up to now – any exciting projects you would like to share?
I am launching a new exciting resort in Mauritius, my television show recently launched in the UK and I have also just designed my own yacht interior. I always have so much going on.. Watch this space..
