On my Plate: Mayrig, Dubai
As a person that is constantly traveling so much, it’s important to plan things with my girlfriends for catch ups whenever I’m in town. A few weeks ago, we headed to Mayrig – a brand new Armenian (yes, where the Kardashians are from!) restaurant in downtown. The restaurant, which is originally and super popular in Beirut is a two floor restaurant on the main road on Emaar Boulevard.
Restaurant name and location: Mayrig, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Downtown Dubai.
Cuisine: Armenian
Atmosphere: Lively with a chic Arabic crowd.
What they say: Mayrig is an Armenian restaurant that adapts the popular classics of Armenian cuisine, while generously borrowing from Lebanese and other Mediterranean influences, in order to feast guests on a dazzling array of flavors.
What to order:
-Smoked sausage hummus
-Fried Kebbeh (they have everything from Potato Kebbeh to Raw beef Kebbeh)
-Sweet Cherry Kebab (Their signature main course dish, a must order.)
-Salads – we tried the selection of salads, I especially loved the Lentil.
-Cheese layered pastry (my ultimate favourite dish at Mayrig. delicious!)
-Rose sorbet (with turkish delight within the ice cream – delicious!)
-Maamoul
-Pistachio Tart
Service: Service was great. I also got to meet one of the owners, Serge who introduced himself and asked for all feedback as they love constructive critisicm. Love a modest restaurant.
What I loved:
-It’s a nice change than your typical Arabic Mezze restaurant.
-Portions are small – could be a good or bad thing depending on how you like to eat. I personally like it!
-With the beautiful weather at the moment, sitting outside is bliss.
What I didn’t love as much:
-Parking on Emaar boulevard is a pain, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes to walk from the parking…
Bill for two: AED 200
