Restaurant Review: Novikov, Dubai

Ideal for… a Trendy night out in Dubai
Restaurant name and location: Novikov, Sheraton Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road Dubai
Cuisine: Pan-Asian
Atmosphere: Novikov is one of Dubai’s hottest restaurants to open this year, it was happening on a Wednesday night! Quite a dim restaurant with lounge music, each table has an exposed bulb and spotlight.
What they say: Known in London for its chic clientele, dynamic menu, and elegant atmosphere across the Asian Room, Italian Room and Lounge, Novikov’s opening in Dubai is much anticipated.
Russia’s most famous and successful restaurateur, Arkady Novikov heads an empire with more than 50 restaurants throughout Moscow. Arkady has put an individual stamp on each of his restaurants, enthused by different regions of cuisine.

The Dubai outpost of Novikov will be featured in a new luxury hotel in a prime Sheikh Zayed Road position, with breathtakingly high ceilings and trademark Novikov design features thatmake the brand so successful. The culinary offering will consist of a pan-asian inspired menu, and a contemporary loumge offering unique to the Novikov London concept.

What to order:
Being a Japanese restaurant, they also really had the perfect balance of choices depending on what you eat and don’t eat – including gluten free options.
-Wagyu tacos (delicious, crunchy – my favorite starter)
-Crab and avocado salad (a fresh and light salad to share)
-Chicken & morel Sui Mai (a dim sum favorite with mushroom and chicken)
-Miso baby chicken (soft and light)
-Wasabi prawns (luxury wasabi prawns, beware as slightly spicy!)
-Mochi ice cream (Not every place serve good Mochi, I’ve had horrible ones! The raspberry and mango were my favorites)
-Chocolate foundant (Gluten free, which I forgot because it was incredible.)

Service: 9.8/10 (I never give a 10 out of 10!) Our waiter, Clent was incredibly helpful and great at recommending dishes.

What I loved:
-Let me just start by saying, the food was really incredible.
-You don’t need to even get into the hotel – the entrance is right at the front with valet.
-Novikov has an incredible reputation with their successful restaurants in Moscow and London.

What I didn’t love as much:
-It’s quite pricy, so make sure you keep that in mind.
-The portions aren’t that large, so you will probably be ordering quite a bit.

Bill for two: AED1,200 (excluding alcohol)
