Ideal for… fans of Chef Izu’s dishes (the man behind LPM, La Serre & the Lighthouse’s menus)
Restaurant name and location: IZU brasserie and bakery at La BHV Marais within City Walk 2.
Cuisine: Mediterranean
Atmosphere: I went on a weekday for early lunch – it was quite empty with two other tables occupied. Loved the casual, rustic feel of the restaurant.
What they say: Created by the forward-thinking Chef Izu Ani, IZU Brasserie, located in Le BHV Marais, City walk is a humble, informal dining spot with the soul of a traditional brasserie, serving simple dishes inspired by Mediterranean culture with a Italian influence.

IZU Brasserie embodies the same characteristics as its namesake, Chef Izu, a place where guests are friends, gathering together in an intimate and welcoming environment, experiencing and sharing good food together.

The simple menu has been designed using high quality ingredients to create consistently good food. The key feature at IZU Brasserie is the kitchen counter, inspired by his own home, the kitchen is a place of activity during social gatherings. At IZU Brasserie guests walk right up to the kitchen bar where their order is taken, prepared and served by the chef allowing guests to have a dining experience directly with the kitchen.

What to order:
-Avocado and labneh tartine (from their breakfast menu – delicious and I’d definitely order with a cup of coffee for breakfast next time.)
-Buratta (Chef Izu knows a good buratta, super creamy)
-Veal Milanese (Fresh and crispy – worked well with the pasta)
-Rigatoni bolognese (been craving it since I saw it on their instagram page, love that it’s el dente as well)
-Almond croissaint (Instead of dessert, I went for the almond croissant which is freshly baked at the IZU bakery)

Service: 9/10

What I loved:
-Interiors: Even though the restaurant is hidden within Le BHV Marais, the space really does create it’s own relaxed atmosphere with it’s rustic design.
-Coffee: Extra points for really good coffee. They serve a special blend by Boon coffee.

Bill for two: AED300
