Chic Stay: Park Hyatt Mallorca

The hotel: The first Park Hyatt resort in Europe, it truly is a beautiful luxury property that looks like a Spanish village. The areas around the hotel are named after the trees in the hotel (i.e. the lemon tree, orange tree etc). The hotel also has over 330 pieces of art.

The design: I loved the Spanish feel of the hotel, that looks very much like a Spanish village filled with honey colored buildings and fruit & olive trees (I can’t wait to see how the resort looks in a couple of years, when the buildings look a little more worn out, and the plants having grown in.

The Room: I must say, the classic standard rooms are as big as suites in most hotels – and all come with beautiful terraces, and a walking closet. Quite a high tech hotel, they have TV on the bathroom, touchscreen mirror, iPad where you can order everything on and no worries, if you don’t have the international plug – they have USB plugs around. The room also includes a Nespresso machine and Bose bluetooth speakers.

The toiletteries: Fitting in with the luxe feel, the toiletries are by Bottega Veneta.

The restaurants: The hotel has 4 restaurants – the Asian one closes during the Winter time (so it wasn’t open when I was visiting). During my stay, I visited the Balearic restaurant (where they also serve breakfast) and serve a great paella. I also had dinner at Tapas – five star version of a traditional tapas dining – bread in house (delicious!)

The spa: Serenitas Spa was absolutely breathtaking. They have a tea menu with teas such as happiness tea and positivity tea, their ingredients are all fresh from the island, and the views of the room and relaxation area were heavenly. The spa uses the majorcan brand, Gaia as well as Espa.

The pool: The hotel has two pools – one main one (that isn’t too large) as well as an adults only pool.

The gym: They have a 24 hours gym, using technogym equipment.

The Room service: Quite a high tech hotel, the room service menus and orders are managed via the iPad in the room. You can order everything on it, from your sides to how you’d like your meat cooked. The burger was definitely one to order.

The service: The staff were incredibly sweet.

Local recommendations: There’s not much around the hotel, as it’s on the quiet side of Majorca, but they’re right next door to the Cap Vermell estate.
