Ideal for… a Parisian experience in Dubai
Restaurant name and location: Bistro Des Arts, Marina Promenade, Dubai UAE
Cuisine: French
Atmosphere: We went on a weekday for lunch, and there were quite a few people there for business lunches, but I would imagine the vibe is completely different on the weekends.
What they say: Bistro des Arts is a quintessential 1970 Parisian bistro overlooking the waters of Dubai Marina, serving a repertoire of classic “Terroir” French home-style food with a rustic French décor and a garden vibe terrace.
The restaurant offers a Parisienne bistro style fare from breakfast through to late-night supper. Guests can choose from of a well-curated wine list, a raw seafood bar and freshly baked bread and pastries all served in a laid back casual style environment. Bistro des Arts is a not yet seen original Parisian Bistro, the place to go for a slice of Paris in Dubai.
What to order:
-Calamari with garlic and parsley – a grilled Calamari dish that was delicious, a great starter option.
-Saint-Marcelin – a cheese dip, it is quite strong and made for the cheese lovers.
-Les Gambas – a main King Prawns dish.
-Veal Escalope – I really enjoyed it (not breaded with a creamy sauce)
-Crepe Suzette – if you love crepes, this is a must order – it’s served with Orange syrup and Grand Marnier.
-Kouignette Framboise – something you wouldn’t really see in Dubai. Think Croissant pastry with a raspberry filling. I only wish it was easier to cut into!
Service: The place wasn’t packed, so we were good with service, and also got the servers to recommend some dishes.
What I loved:
-The whole French experience – the waiters looked like they were waiters in Paris and I liked hearing a lot of French being spoken under one roof in Dubai.
-The interiors and the rustic feel of the place.
-The restaurant was no fuss, a traditional Parisian spot, which is quite nice.
What I didn’t love as much:
-It doesn’t have it’s own dedicated parking – make sure to park within Marina Mall and then head outside by Waitrose.
Bill for two: AED400
