Tried & Tested: Dry Shampoo

I was one of those women that would wash my hair on a daily basis, till I realized it was one of the worst things to do – especially if you color your hair. So now I alternate between a bath and shower day. To keep my hair from feeling flat and looking its’ worst, I depend on dry shampoos for day two. Here a few recommended ones for you…

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo
I get this brand when I’m in the US, but according to rumors – it’s coming to Dubai soon! This is a little different to the brands out there in the market – this actually refreshes and cleans the hair, rather than just mask it. The brand, with co-owners including Jennifer Aniston and Celebrity stylist, Chris McMillian use a key molecule ingredient OFPMA, which makes it weightless on the hair and the powders (rice starch and cellulose) absorb the oil and the zeolite hydrates and traps odors whereas the hydrated silica soaks the sweat. Once you brush the powder out, you’re left with refreshed hair.

Oribe Dry texturizing spray
This wins as my ultimate favourite dry shampoo. This product does two things – a dry shampoo with no white residue at all yet removing excess oil and texturizes, adds volume and gives the hair some oomph! This product is pure luxury. FYI Good news – Oribe is now available at Harvey Nichols Dubai!

Philip B Russian Amber Imperial dry shampoo
I really like this one by Philip B – and especially because I love his luxurious Russian Amber range. Lightweight on the hair, yet the scent really refreshes the whole hair without leaving any white residue on the hair. A plus for women with treatment, the product is colour and keratin-treatment safe so it really does work on every kind of hair.
Available at Jetset salons

Alterna Bamboo style Cleanse Extend
If you’re looking for a dry shampoo that smells great, I recommend this one by Alterna. Transparent (so you don’t get that annoying white powder), absorbs oil, free of sulfates and parabens and comes in scents like sheer blossom and mango coconut. Alterna is known to use pure organic bamboo extract, which is nourishing for the hair.
