Restaurant Review: Cocoa Room, Dubai

Comments

Ideal for… A breakfast experience, an incredible one.
Restaurant name and location: Cocoa Room, The Galleria Mall, Dubai
Cuisine: Breakfast/Bakery
Atmosphere: For a weekday morning, this was packed. People coming, people leaving. A buzzing breakfast option with lovely natural lighting.
What they say: The highly anticipated breakfast place, Cocoa Room, is finally opening in Dubai. The restaurant operates within Slider Station during the day where breakfast is served up until 12pm. One of the most exquisite, mouthwatering dishes are born in Cocoa Room kitchen, serving unique plates that satisfy all morning cravings.

What to order:
I’ve been seeing the Cocoa room all over social media and I must say, my first thoughts were, everything just looks and sounds good, but actually tastes mediocre. Let me just say, everything we ordered tasted a million times better than it looks. I’ve been so impressed with the people behind The Slider Station as they’ve been quite impressive with their ingredients and dishes.
-Ancho & Cocoa braised short ribs Benedict – I had this dish and it is one of their best sellers. Heavenly with a tinge of sweetness. A fun twist to your typical benedict dish.
-My sister made her own omelette, which she said was perfection and very flavorful.
-Banoffee pancakes – We were stuffed, but if you love banoffees, I can’t think of a better way to kick a craving without this. The biscuit crumbs all around this give it the perfect amount of crunch to the rich dish.
-Buttermilk pancakes – Can I just say this wins as one of my favorite pancakes in the city? Simple, fluffy and doughy pancakes with butter and maple syrup.
-Salted caramel & burnt marshmallow Hot chocolate – Even though this was quite milky, you can’t visit Cocoa Room and not order the most instagrammed drink!

Service: This is the only point this restaurant lacks. Cocoa Room, including Slider Station are places I prefer speaking to the duty manager as I never get the feeling that the waiters/waitresses know much about the food or menu.

What I loved:
-Incase you weren’t aware, The Cocoa Room is the breakfast sister of Slider Station, so they operate from Slider Station.
-Love the fact that Cocoa room is Gulf born, rather than a franchise (It’s from Kuwait).
-There is something for everyone from the menu – a packed menu, yet still fun and approachable.
-If you don’t want to go all out with nutella, lotus or peanut butter – they have a feather light section.

What I didn’t love:
-Expect to come and wait! Most tables take a minimum of 45 minutes

Bill for two: AED150
