One of my favourite jewellery designers, Shourouk was recently in town for the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience. The designer was in town specifically to launch her Tshirt line collaboration with Zayan at S*uce. After a lovely ladies lunch at Zuma, I sat down with the designer to talk about her Middle Eastern roots, the collaboration as well as her jewellery styling tips.

The collaboration is available at S*uce Dubai Mall.

How does it feel being in Dubai?

I’m very excited to be here!

Have you come here before?

This is my first time.

How does it feel being here?

It’s more than what I expected… it’s so’s really beautiful!

Does it feel nice to coming to the Middle East, being from the Middle East yourself?

Yes definitely.

You’re one of my first favourite jewelry designers..How did you come about starting your own brand?

Well I have worked in fashion for many years, but I always wanted to launch my own brand to express myself and when I found the moment, I just launched.

You have collaborated with Swarovski and Zayan. Is collaborating with designers something that you like doing?

I like to do it when we have something in common and Zayan is my first client in the region..She’s the first one to place an order and since six years ago, she’s still believing in me. It’s a long time that we wanted to be something together and we finally found the right opportunity.

Could you talk about your collaboration with Zayan?

I customised one of her designs’s a t-shirt. This collection is about flowers and I wanted to have flowers on T-shirts!

What are your styling tips?

I like to wear earrings, necklaces..I like it when it’s too much..but do it only if you are super confident with yourself. If you feel like Anna Dello Russo, do it! I like to wear big jewelry on something very casual like Tshirts..have fun..don’t be scared of wearing big necklaces!

What are you currently working on other than the collaboration with Zayan?

We are always launching new things, so working on the next collection.
