My NYC diary with Ralph Lauren

September 21
Comments

During Fashion Week, I flew out with one of the most Iconic true American brands, Ralph Lauren to one of my favourite cities in the world – New York City. This was a big season for Ralph Lauren – I was invited to attend their show (one of the best during the NYFW leg of fashion month) as well as the awaited launch of their new range, Polo.

After a comfortable flight, I checked in to WestHouse hotel on 55th st (I’ve never heard of the hotel before, but I loved the cosy feel – Great for anyone traveling to New York soon – They have their own unique scent and the comfiest beds). The trip began with tours of the Ralph Lauren stores (Polo as well as the flagship store on Madison Ave) in the city and ended with the Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer ’15 show. Here are my highlights including the big Ralph Lauren party to launch the polo line, as well as what to expect next season.

The Polo collection

One of the main reasons I traveled to New York City with Ralph Lauren was for the launch of the Polo line – Ralph Lauren’s mid range brand for women. Affordable to many, casual and wearable. We visited the store on 55th street, 5th avenue (on the day it opened!) to check out the collections. The womenswear is really, really cool… Young, all american with a downtown mood – You have everything from wool plaid jackets with fringe (which I had to get my hands on) to luxe leather skirts, trousers and loose shirts. The campaign was shot by legendary photographer, Bruce Weber and is very California inspired with lots of Navajo prints. The Polo show took place the next day at Central Park. Everyone from Anna Wintour, Karolina Kurkova, DVF, Ciara, Rachel Zoe, Ben Stiller to Kendall Jenner came to celebrate Ralph Lauren’s exciting launch. The private show took place on the lake of the park in 4D showing the models as if they were walking on water – Incredible.

Ralph’s Coffee – the Polo cafe at the Polo store

On the 2nd floor of the Polo flagship store, Ralph Lauren launched his own coffee shop – Ralph’s Coffee. Being a coffee fan myself and one that tends to visit coffee shops around the world, this definitely would be counted as one of my favourites. The whole atmosphere of the cafe gives off a fresh, comfortable and chic feel – they make some of the best organic coffee. I highly recommend the latte and iced coffee (They also have tea and pastries). If you needed more of a reason to come in, the baristas are gorgeous. Perfect for casual delicious coffee overlooking the view of Fifth Ave and Manhattan!

Ralph Lauren S/S’15

Commencing this trip was the highlight – The Ralph Lauren show during Fashion Week! Taking place on the last day of NYFW, they showed three morning shows at their signature location on Washington Street. A front row of faces from actress, Julianne Moore to Rachel Zoe and Grace Coddington – this show was probably one of the most wearable Ralph collections I’ve seen so far. I definitely see it working in the region very well. The collection featured a palette of neutrals, blacks and brights such as oranges, pinks and yellows. The hair and make up was left simple and minimal and was all about the ease of the pieces in strong hues. The last pieces (shown above) were my personal favourites. For the show, I wore a Polo jacket, Polo leather skirt, and Savas Milano bag from theexposedhouse.com

Enjoy the photo diary above and Thank you to the lovely Ralph Lauren team for the fab trip, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the collection.
