NEW YEARS EVE PLAN: Sandance

Planning for New Year’s Eve is always a headache in this city. People plan last minute (and with the traffic & congestion, last minute plans are not fun.) and most nightclubs/lounges are overly priced. Last year, I went to Sandance (Rita Ora and Elie Goulding performed) followed by a friend’s house party. I must say I wasn’t super excited when getting my tickets because I wanted to dress up for NYE but what’s great about Sandance is the fact that you can dress up (just don’t wear stilettos! Keep them in your car if you have post plans), you listen to amazing music (This year, they have a line up of Emile Sande, Axwell, and Paul Oakenfold to name a few.), you end up bumping into people you know (as it’s a full house!), you still have your place (it’s quite spacious, yet you’re still partying on the beach!), and this year – They have the largest firework display on the palm for Guiness world records. & the best part of all? You still spend a decent amount on New Year’s – AED450 (regular – at the door), and AED600 (VIP tickets)

VISIT: Madinat Jumeirah’s Winter Wonderland

Every year, Dubai try to add as much of the festive spirit within shopping centres and restaurants but it never really feels like Christmas. This year, I’ve been super impressed with Madinat Jumeirah. Head out with your children because it feels like a Winter Wonderland (the weather is chilly enough to make it feel like it is too.) Roasted Chestnuts, Gingerbread treats, Christmas treats, 8 metre tall Christmas tree, Giant snow globe, ice rink, Santa’s grotto, reindeer rodeo and the North Pole Train are enough to make any kid excited.

DRESSES: L’wren Scott for Banana Republic

This is the time of the year where I take out my statement dressers for Christmas lunches, Christmas parties and New Years Eve. If you’ve left the dress shopping till the last minute, I suggest you check out the fashion collaboration L’wren Scott did with Banana Republic which features a range of festive pieces from sequin cardigans to brocade dresses.
