There’s nothing better than good food, in a casual restaurant with a close friend… I recently took one of my good friends out for dinner at Mango Tree, the authentic Thai restaurant at Souk Al Bahar. Delicious…

Restaurant name and location: Mango Tree at Souk Al Bahar

Cuisine: Authentic Thai cuisine with a modern twist – Started up in Bangkok, launched in London and now worldwide.

Atmosphere: Smart Casual, yet felt romantic with the view.

What they say: Located in the heart of Dubai, in the exclusive Souk Al Bahar, Downtown Burj Dubai, Mango Tree offers authentic Thai Cuisine and a genuine charm that gives you an unforgettable experience.

What to order:

-Satay gai (chicken satay – delicious!)

-Shrimp spring rolls (Crispy, loved the addition of noodles.)

-Phad Thai with Shrimp (It was just right…)

-Stir fry chicken with cashew nuts (flavourful, perfect with a side of Vegetable fried rice)

-Khao Niew ma muang Sticky rice (I have this whenever a restaurant serves it, and this is one of the best I’ve had!)

Service: Excellent

What I loved:

-The view of the fountains and Burj Khalifa – worth sitting there just for that view.

-The refreshing towels in between meals – really helped as we were sitting outdoors!

-It felt like we were in Thailand… authentic food, the staff, and the menu was in Thai – each dish explained in English though.

-The vast range of teas.

What I didn’t love as much:

-It was difficult to watch the fountains with that high barrier, but might be for safety reasons… so I’ll let it pass.

Bill for two: around 400AED
