I have been wanting to check out Blue Jade since they opened a few months ago, so I decided to head there for dinner with a friend (we have a tradition of visiting Asian restaurants together when we were living in London.) The restaurant is brand new to the hotel, which also recently expanded with rooms and restaurants. If you love Asian food, make sure this is your next Dinner choice…

Restaurant name and location: Blue Jade, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, JBR

Cuisine: Pan-Asian (Think Singapore, Vietnam, China and Thailand!)

Atmosphere: Smart Casual, with a range of different ages & crowds. It didn’t feel like hotel guests though…

What they say: A contemporary restaurant that celebrates Asian cuisine by taking you on a journey throughout the East. The cuisine combines authentic flavours with contemporary style and presentation with a live raw bar and sushi station in the centre of the restaurant, creating an ultimate Asian dining experience.

What to order:

-Rice paper rolls (a light choice.)

-Prawn dumplings (the best dumplings I’ve had…)

-Chicken dim sum

-Duck breast orange blossom

-Sushi: Tempura maki, spider roll, sandwichmaki (interesting Sushi…)

-Sticky rice and mango (my favorite Thai dessert that I don’t find everywhere)

-Banana sago (coconut milk, banana and tapioca balls, interesting dessert, but tastes better than it looks.)

Service: I was a happy camper.

What I loved:

-You get the essence of Asian traditions, with the Welcome tea and Taste of Thailand pre-appetiser, which you don’t find in most restaurants.

-The Cutlery box on the left – you can choose to use chopsticks or cutlery without having to ask.

-The Extensive menu (Tempura, Dumpling, Sushi, Black pepper beef, you name it.)

-Different Asian cuisines – You can have good Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese food under one roof.

-Interesting mocktails with Cherry blossom and they have a great Ginger Mojito.

What I didn’t love as much:

I was happy with everything, nothing to complain about…
