Highlights of my month: February 2013

March 1

-Healthy eats: Kcal
I have been hearing about Kcal for a while now. It’s considered the healthy fast food joint in Dubai & is a great place to order from for office lunch. I tried their Quinoa salad, sweet potato chunks and the sweet banana sushi. My favorite would have to be the dessert, Sweet banana sushi which is a banana, rolled with sticky rice and sealed with a thin pancake. They give you a tub of chocolate to dip it in (yum). A friend of mine recommended the burrito, so I will have to check that on my next visit. They currently have a branch in JLT & a new one in Tecom.

-Coffee: Cinnamon frappe at laduree
This month, I was at Laduree Dubai Mall for a meeting and chose to go for the cinnamon frappe which is my latest coffee obsession. Tastes like a holiday drink, and still gives you a sweet yet aromatic buzz.

-Brand: Kage
A Dubai brand that keeps on impressing me year by year. I wore their s/s13 quite a bit this month. Always adorable, easy and effortlessly chic. Here a few of my looks above.

-International Dessert: Swedish chocolate balls
I tried those at my Swedish friend’s house this month – perfect for a chocolate crave. The dessert are fudgy little chocolate balls (that don’t need to be baked or fried) and covered with coconut shavings.

-Workout: Kristina at Flybarre
All the instructors at Flywheel and Flybarre Dubai are great. Whenever I get asked for a recommendation, I tell people to try them all as every instructor is completely different (I try to fit in classes with everyone every month) This month, I’m loving Kristina, who is a professional dancer, Best workout playlist (think Rihanna, Snoop Dogg & Kanye) bubbly, funny, and a great workout.

-Lunch choice: Hakkasan, Dubai
The restaurant opened a branch in Dubai, Emirates Towers which I went to for the first time this month. Reminded me so much of the one in London and the food was just like London.

-Movie: Argo
I’ve been wanting to watch the movie for some time now, but ended up missing it in the cinema. I was so excited to find out it was showing on my flight to NYC – the movie was better than I expected. Directed by Ben Affleck (who also starred in it) on the Iranian revolution, and a true story of trying to take out American hostages. This definitely gets on my favorite movie list – If you haven’t seen Ben Affleck’s The Town, that’s another to watch.

-Shopping Find: Creatures of the Wind jacket on Theoutnet.com
I love theoutnet.com for all their finds… I always find some great pieces on the site. I recently got my hands on this Creatures of the Wind jacket and I am obsessed. so original and I love the fluos within the print. A great fan of the brand too. Shop it here

-Beauty: Make up classes at Bobbi Brown’s flagship store, Dubai
Bobbi Brown just opened their flagship store at The Dubai Mall and it is beautiful! Turns out it is the largest store after the one in New Jersey (where Bobbi is based) Bobbi Brown is all about educating and I love how they have make up lessons in store rather than make up sessions. I recently took a lesson on how to get the perfect smokey eye – learnt some amazing new tips.
