Chic Stay: St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, London

March 2
Comments Subcategorized in:

I have a great love for London… I’ll tell you why. 1) I lived there for four years 2) it’s one of the most beautiful cities 3) The culture within the city is just unreal.

As I’ve now moved to Dubai, I had to stay at a hotel during London fashion week. I must say it was bittersweet not staying at home in Kensington, but it was also exciting to finally check out the hotels in London. On this trip, I stayed at St Pancras Renaissance hotel, which is definitely one of the most beautiful buildings I’ve ever seen. I remember passing by the last time I was in London, and had to stop and just take in the beauty. The building is huge, beautiful and English.

To make things more digestible, here is my break down on what I adored about the hotel, and what things I wish were different (there were very few, which makes it my Chic Stay choice.)

Location:
The location of this hotel is just perfect if you’re around London during your trip. The hotel is attached to St Pancras and Kings Cross station (you can actually walk to the station within the hotel), which makes it perfect for moving around. If you’re in London, and heading to or back to Paris – this is even better as you can just roll your luggage from within the station. If you’re planning on staying in Kensington and Knightsbridge for the full trip, this would be better to keep for your next trip.

History:
I love the history behind this building. The Hotel is over 135 years old (crazy, no?), and was restored by the Marriott. Harry Potter, Batman, and the Spice Girls have filmed scenes within the hotel.

Architecture & Interiors:
I’m usually a fan of modern and boutique hotels, but I loved how ‘English’ the hotel looked, and perfect for my stay in London. I love how the hotel looks Victorian, but still has it’s own modern touches to it.

Service:
I can write a whole feature on the service, as this hotel had outstanding service in every way possible. I felt like I was taken care of, and nothing was ever impossible. I’m all about the service at hotels, and the service here was just spectacular. Everyone from the porters, to the reception, to the waiters were amazing. Ace service.

Suites:
I stayed at their Chambers Junior Suite, which was just beautiful. High ceilings, spacious, cosy, large windows (check out the photos above) Once you entered the suite, there was a mini staircase to the bathroom, with a mini corridor that took you to the actual bedroom. I love how it felt victorian, yet super modern. Each suite had a butler service to cater to all your needs. As I said, service was amazing. Guests get access to the Chambers club, a fab place to relax and grab refreshments (Breakfast is also served there!)

Toiletries:
I’m one of those geeks that get really excited about toiletries. They had everything you would expect and more, and I love the fact that there was a choice of a bath tub or a shower. But two things I absolutely loved were the bath products by REN skincare (one of the greatest shower & bath brands, in my opinion.) and the fact that my bathtub had a towel and rubber duck ready for me… cute.

Food:
Sadly, I didn’t have time to have dinner at their restaurant, The Booking office. However, I did manage to order room service while I was there. I had the chicken & avocado sandwich with chunky fries – delicious.

Lobby:
I love a good lobby. The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel’s lobby had great natural light, super spacious, and was always buzzing during my 3 days in London.  I would come back just to grab coffee and a slice of cake.

With all good things, there must be one thing that wasn’t so good. At the St Pancras Renaissance, I struggled to get any good internet connection even with a booster. It could’ve been my room’s location, but a 3 day work trip with bad internet did not make me happy.

Overall, what an amazing hotel! Great service, beautiful building and a trip to remember… Thank you for having me St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, London.
