I am officially a University Graduate!

July 21

This week was an exciting one – After four years at the London College of Fashion, which is part of the University of the Arts. I have finally graduated with a BA (hons) degree and Access Diploma! Graduating is always bitter sweet but it does feel good not to have back to back courseworks for a while 🙂

Other than the fact that I wanted to share my exciting news with all of you, I also wanted to Thank the lady who kept on pushing us and dedicated any second of her time to help her students out, Paola Brandi (the 2nd lovely lady from the left!) – who also won the teachers award at my Graduation ceremony. Thank you for being one of my biggest supporters, an amazing teacher (not to mention a hilarious one too!), and a mentor. Thank you for all the skype classes, late night help on facebook and practically being Superwoman (she runs her own company, and is between London and Paris during the week – however, she still manages to reply back with a solution to everything within the hour!)

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

“Graduating is always bitter sweet but it does feel good not to have back to back courseworks for a while”

Congratulations. 🙂 I remember that feeling; for me, handing in my dissertation was like banging the door shut behind a pack of obnoxious relatives who just couldn’t take the hint that I might quite like them to leave. But yes, graduation is bittersweet. Apart from anything, your life always has a very predictable structure while you’re at uni; you’re given an assignment, you had it in, you get feedback and it’s either a kick up the backside or a nice little massage for the ego. Either way, you know where you are and how you’re doing.

Then you graduate and that structure’s gone. It can be downright unsettling. No-one’s going to feedback to you on how your graduate jobs hunt is going, there are no rules, no structure. But that’s the beauty of it, you get to build your own structure. 🙂 And there’s not much I miss from uni now. Certainly not the evil lecturers and insane deadlines.
