Well, I love Pop ups, I love Harvey Nichols and I love Tucker (If you are not familiar with the brand, they designer super easy pieces featuring bold prints!) Tucker by Gaby Basora are running a pop up shop at Harvey Nichols, London for the next few weeks which must be on every fashionista’s to do list this bank holiday (you might also be the winner of the antique Tucker armchair!) I recently spoke to Gaby, the designer and creative director on the pop up shop idea, blogs, and her favorite haunts in London!

How did you make the transition from stylist to designer?
I made things for myself that got noticed and I designed things for clients that were well received/desired. This attention was the inspiration to start Tucker.

What inspired your s/s’12 collection?
Spring was inspired by gypsies, nomadic living, Coney island vaudeville, effervescent ladies, south american aristocrats, caravans and camp outs. Summer was inspired by the picture attached of the city beach.

How did the idea of teaming up with Harvey Nichols for a pop up come up?
Harvey Nichols invited us to create a pop up and I was thrilled at the idea to put forth a bit more of the full house of Tucker. Pillows, upholstered chairs, an illustrated little story, a handful more pieces. Hoping that this is just the beginning of a deeper conversation! Love the shop, love the floor so it is quite an honor! We opened a store in Soho in the fall and it is exciting to watch all the new additions to the collection; pants and coats and such being an immediate hit. Thanks Harvey Nichols!

Do you read fashion blogs?
I do like fashion blogs, Refinery 29, Style Like U, nowness, The Cut, jan jil, vogue uk, yasmin sewell, liberty ross…

What are your favorite London haunts?
pizza east, st johns food and wine, lina’s in soho, photographer’s gallery, lazarides gallery, soler in notting hill, portobello road hotel
