This week’s insider is Stylist, Alex Longmore – who has styled for the likes of Claudia Schiffer, Twiggy and Zara Phillips to name a few. Alex shares some great tips on how to break it into the industry, what makes a good stylist and what a stylist should never leave home without!

How to break it into the industry?
Breaking into the Fashion Industry is all about patience, hard work and having the confidence not to give up. Often people think it is a hard industry to break into – its not… You’ve just got to have passion and determination by the bucket load and know what avenues to cross. I had so many people sending their CV to me I decided to start a School, Style School teaching students exactly what was needed to break into the Fashion World. I gathered my contacts in the Industry to share their knowledge and now we run short courses which enable people to gain a real insight into the fashion industry.

What makes a good stylist?
Someone who can work to a brief, work brilliantly in a team, be super organised and have a creative vision that is innovative. To me Styling is all about making clothes, people and places look beautiful – everything must work together.
