–When did you decide you wanted to start designing shoes?
During my foundation course at London College of Fashion, I then went on to do a degree at Cordwainers specializing in footwear design.
–Being a huge Olympia Dolly fan myself, how did the style come about?
It was one of the first Charlotte Olympia designs and became a signature. I wanted to design a classic court with a modern silhouette. I am partial to a very high heel and I didn’t want the shoe to look heavy so the “island” platform is set-back and looks like it is floating under the sole.

One of my favorite boutiques, Symphony Boutique exclusively stocks Charlotte Olympia in Dubai! Have you ever been to Dubai – any upcoming plans?
Yes, I have been to Dubai a couple of times in the past. I am very excited to collaborate with Symphony; I would love to come and see the store in person. Actually, I was just discussing with my husband and we might go with our son soon for some sunshine!
–What were the inspirations behind your SS11 collection?
Being half Brazilian I wanted to reference a bit of Brazil. Carmen Miranda was my pin-up this season, I always like to work with a lot of colour, different textures and print. I had a lot of fun designing this collection.
–You collaborated with designers for SS11, any future collaboration plans?
Yes, I love collaborating and will still continue to do so for Fall 2011.
–What would you be if you weren’t a Shoe designer?
I would still be doing something creative and sculptural; hats or lingerie perhaps.
–I love how you’re mostly seen wearing your own designs. Which style are you wearing this week?
I only wear my own designs other than when I wear Converse. This week I’m running around my factory in Italy in my “Bowie” ankle boots, they’re super high and comfortable and go with everything.-Favourite fashion city?
Hard question, but Paris is very special.
–Do you read any fashion websites or blogs?
Vogue.com, Style.com, Purplediary.com and
netaporter.com for some online window shopping! I love
